Aimmune is seeking a Director of Global Advocacy Relations, who will be a key leader in building and maintaining a positive reputation for Aimmune Therapeutics within the highly active food allergy community, and in ensuring a strong voice within the related public policy environment, in the U.S. and European geographies. The Director of Global Advocacy relations must be an experienced and creative diplomat, negotiator and strategic advisor who has experience working within a cross-functional organizational structure to drive Aimmune’s priorities while operating within full compliance of U.S. and European regulatory standards.The Director of Global Advocacy will be a strong team player with the ability to work independently, with a sense of urgency, and be flexible to change, while exercising sound business judgement. (S)he will possess the judgement and leadership necessary to act as a visible ambassador for the Company.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Forge long-term, substantive, mutually-respectful relationships with the multi-channel food allergy community and other key stakeholders based on trust, value and transparency.
  • Develop and drive the organization’s global advocacy relations plan with well-articulated objectives, strategies, multi-faceted tactics and corresponding budget for proposed engagements that incorporate, but are not limited to, e-business channel communication, digital/mobile technology and social media.
  • Ensure strategic plans and relationships with key patient groups and professional associations are aligned, coordinated and maximize efficiencies across company.
  • Bring the voice of patients and providers into Aimmune’s assets, including clinical trial design, corporate communications, value and access, and direct-to-patient marketing.
  • Manage full-spectrum of daily interactions with advocates, as outlined in strategic plan, in full compliance with U.S. and E.U. regulations.
  • Maintain sound understanding and daily monitoring of policy environment relating to food allergy and provide proactive reporting and recommendations for appropriate involvement.
  • Manage charitable grants giving process, including the maintenance of all data capture requirements for reporting purposes.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to leaders across organization, providing counsel and recommendations on how best and compliantly to partner with advocacy community.
  • Serve as an internal resource and identify opportunities to maximize disease awareness activities and coordinate across functions around key opportunities, such as awareness /recognition events.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10+ years of communications, advocacy or related experience, preferably with a biotech or pharmaceutical company or healthcare agency
  • European experience preferred
  • Knowledge of social media landscape, conventions, and emerging developments
  • Ability to think creatively, both in conceptual/visual approaches and in problem solving
  • Excellent judgement while working independently and raising issues appropriately
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to achieve outstanding results while operating with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to adapt quickly and adjust priorities or plans to accommodate a changing environment or objectives; comfort with uncertainty
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective collaboration across organization levels and functions, both internally and externally
  • Impeccable written and oral communications skills
  • Project management skills, including planning, timelines and budgets
  • Expertise with Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
  • Experience managing corporate social media channels, particularly Twitter and LinkedIn; including the creation of engaging and compliant content
  • Experience in managing agencies on time and on budget
  • Skill in tracking and analyzing digital metrics and generating reports
  • Understanding of basic human biology and drug development/clinical trials
  • Appreciation of regulatory (FDA and SEC) compliance, reporting and disclosure guidelines
  • Ability to travel and work off-hours on occasion (~40% of the time)
