Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Global Policy, the Director for Strategy & Operations will manage business planning, project execution, and finance for the Global Policy team and cross-functional platforms such as the Visa Economic Empowerment Institute. The Director will play a crucial role in setting objectives and measuring key results. In addition, the Director will support the Vice President of Global Policy and other members of the Global Policy leadership team in running the business on a day-to-day basis. S/he will regularly engage with cross–functional partners to ensure alignment of public policy and government engagement strategies with business priorities.

  • Structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues. Build out unique, creative and impactful solutions by integrating insights across Visa’s many expert functional resources and supporting collaborative solution development.
  • Support development and management of the business plan and other strategic objectives, working closely with the Global Policy and Government Engagement leadership.
  • Manage objectives and key results (OKRs), scorecards, and provide regular business intelligence/reports for performance management.
  • Drive complex projects, leveraging assets such as the Visa Regulatory Portal and Government Engagement Knowledge Hub to enhance the overall impact and effectiveness of Visa in shaping public policy.

This position is open to the following locations: San Francisco, New York, Washington D.C

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.


Basic Qualifications
• 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications
• 4-6 years of experience in public policy research and program management.
• Advanced degree in international affairs, public policy or economics with payment industry experience.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented program manager with experience in an international business environment.
• Commercial acumen to apply regulatory analysis to business scenarios. Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor, attention to detail and ability to structure and analyze data.
• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and facilitate healthy communication.
• Excellent writer with strong presentation skills, comfortable presenting to external parties, including clients, regulators and other stakeholders.
• Proven track record of managing teams and projects in a matrixed organization.
• Ability to work closely with the business and communications functions, receive input, collaborate on aligning a learning strategy, prioritize projects/products based on business objectives and ROI methodology.
• Proficiency with software and tools for data visualization, statistical analysis, knowledge-sharing and document encryption.
• General knowledge of legal and regulatory issues of relevance to public financial services or payments companies.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
