Qualcomm’s Government Affairs is looking for an experienced automotive & transportation technology policy advocate to advance key US regulatory priorities regarding Connected & Automated Vehicles (CAV) technologies including 5G, V2X/ITS, functional safety/ADAS, smart transportation, and data governance at the cross-roads of various industries digitalization. The role will require a specific expertise in government policies in the context of transportation at large. As a member of a global Government Affairs, the role will require a robust understanding and outreach to global policy makers.
The Director position involves developing and building strategic policy engagement with government officials, trade associations, and industry policy peers in support of Qualcomm automotive and transportation policy and business objectives. The role also requires working closely with cross-functional teams to strategically advice on the impact of US and global policies on Qualcomm’s product, technology, and business roadmaps. The role requires a solid analytical and communication skills and understanding Government policy decision making process and a work experience with or in governments or regulatory agencies. The role is for a policy Director who is able to combine complex technological, technical and business issues and transform them into impactful policy and advocacy strategies.
• Identify and establish key automotive and transportation governments relationships that are critical to Qualcomm’s business in the US (US DoT and related agencies, Capitol Hill, industry associations), and international.
• Provide support to strategic policy projects and advocacy programs, working cross functionally with the technology, business and products teams.
• Contribute to the development of a strategy for Qualcomm on the relevant policy and regulatory issues. Write briefings, regulatory filings and public speaking.
• Monitor and influence policy, legislative and regulatory issues and advise internally on the technology and business roadmap
• Represent Qualcomm’s interests and positions in industry associations, think-tanks and industry partnerships while driving specific strategic objectives
- Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.
- Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
- Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
Bachelors – Business, Bachelors – Engineering, Bachelors – Government Affairs, Bachelors – legal-related field (e.g., Law, Legal Studies, etc.), Bachelors – Political Science, Bachelors – Public Affairs, Bachelors – Public Policy
7+ years Government Affairs, Communications, Industry Associations, or related work experience.
Masters – Business, Masters – Engineering, Masters – Government Affairs, Masters – legal-related field (e.g., Law, Legal Studies, etc.), Masters – Political Science, Masters – Public Affairs, Masters – Public Policy
4+ years in a leadership role with or without direct reports (only applies to positions with direct reports). ,3+ years working with operating budgets, resources, and/or project financials. ,3+ years experience working in or with a large multinational organization. ,Business fluent in English. ,8+ years Government Affairs, Communications, Industry Associations, or related work experience.
