Your Role:

The Director of Government Affairs & External Relations is responsible for interacting with local, state, and federal legislative bodies and government agencies to represent, advance and protect Monolith’s business plans and interests.

You Will:

  • Establish and execute the Monolith government relations strategy
  • Provide advice and counsel to all levels of management on government policy and political actions
  • Facilitate and coordinate with various internal and external parties to provide input to local, state, and federal officials on matters pertaining to Monolith’s business
  • Monitor, track, and analyze proposed executive orders, regulations, legislation and other government actions
  • Prepare summaries, perform research and evaluate impact of legislation, regulation and policy proposals at all levels of government with goal of managing Monolith corporate interests
  • Perform and document research on various legal issues, edit all government affairs communications and participate in legislative committee meetings
  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with local, state, and federal officials and their staffs
  • Prepare various material for internal and external use, including reports, updates, messaging and talking points, coordinate meetings with relevant government stakeholders
  • Partner with Monolith marketing and communications department to plan, execute and participate in various community programs that support Monolith external relations strategy
  • Implement coordinated public affairs strategies to achieve external facing objectives
  • Maintain, manage and monitor support by outside lobbyists at state and federal levels
  • Participate in various trade associations to help advance Monolith objectives and to evaluate all state legislative regulations in applicable states
  • Perform other duties as needed

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 years of relevant experience in government advocacy and public policy development
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties and responsibilities
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Influential interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Proven track record of strong government contacts and advocacy at local, state, and federal levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to understand and translate (or communicate) complex, technical information for non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Travel Expectations:

Up to 25% local and national travel required
