A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS / FEDERAL POLITICAL DIRECTOR
As a Director of Government Affairs / Federal Political Director, you are a dedicated and effective advocate for our industry. Your strong interpersonal skills serve you well as you direct our member engagement program, clearly communicating the importance of the political process to our members. Informed and persuasive, you secure corporate sponsorships and foster engagement with our NRMCA members, building a grasstops network. With the goal of advancing our organization’s priorities in politics, you build relationships with party committees, DC fundraisers, and political candidates. You assist with scheduling congressional facility visits as well as fly-ins for our members to visit representatives on Capitol Hill.
Dependable and trustworthy, you are responsible for managing our federal political action committee (PAC) activities, including maintaining internal databases, overseeing filings, processing receipts, and ensuring compliance with regulations. A team player, you collaborate with our communications department to produce informational materials, including newsletters, graphics, and reports. Our executive president of government affairs (EVP-GA) appreciates your proactive approach as you engage in federal legislative advocacy and lobbying activities. Working alongside the EVP-GA, you create an annual PAC budget. Always punctual and prepared, you make a good impression as you present your findings to our PAC board.
As someone who thinks outside the box, you love the challenge of formulating fundraising strategies and coordinating with our meetings department to plan successful events. A natural problem solver, you thoroughly consider logistics and come up with creative event management solutions. You take pride in knowing that your efforts make a substantial difference for people involved in the ready mixed concrete industry!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS / FEDERAL POLITICAL DIRECTOR
- 3+ years of PAC managing, lobbying, or fundraising experience
- Experience working on or lobbying Capitol Hill
- Established relationships with DC fundraisers
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Practical knowledge of the legislative process

This is a hybrid position in the DC area with the opportunity to work remotely 2 days a week.
