Description

The Director of Government Relations, will be expected to:

• Develop and execute strategies to advance B&A’s public policy objectives with critical governmental and non-governmental audiences.
• Assume leadership of key initiatives and provide team support to others.
• Communicate regularly with executive team to ensure awareness of potential risks and benefits of various legislative and regulatory initiatives.
• Monitor and provide timely and insightful reports on developments and trends specific to B&A priorities.
• Establish and maintain a sophisticated network of political contacts.
• Assist in maintaining our Customer Relationship Management system.
• Execute special projects when necessary.

Professional Experience/Qualifications

The successful candidate will have 3+ years of experience in the legislative arena.

Primary qualifications include:

• A keen understanding of the legislative process and relationships with key committees.
• The ability to quickly grasp and address key legislative and policy priorities.
• An ability to work with a wide range of personalities and interests, including industry colleagues, policymakers, staffers, and internal executives.
• Demonstrated orientation towards business growth.
• Political and organizational skills, and the proven ability to successfully execute policy, political, and business objectives in the public policy arena.
• Ability to understand legislative procedures.
• Strong communication skills.
• The ability to work in and be an integral part of an action-oriented, decision-making environment.
• Have existing relationships or the ability to build a network at all levels of government and business.

Education

An undergraduate degree is required.  Business, law, or policy is preferred.
