Boutique lobbying firm on Capitol Hill seeks a Director to manage a growing roster of domestic policy clients. The Director will have the opportunity to work with clients in emerging sectors, including industry associations, corporate entities, and municipal governments.

 

The Director will play an important role in the continued development of the firm and be responsible for the execution of all strategic initiatives on behalf of a large and diverse client roster. The Director will be supported by a Manager of Government Relations. The ideal candidate must have experience defining and advancing policy and advocacy issues. This position is responsible for proactive and bipartisan legislative and regulatory lobbying, strategic guidance, and overall direction of the Advocacy activities on behalf of 15 clients. The candidate will be asked to forge constructive solutions and build (or participate in) coalitions, when appropriate, to advance client interests. The Vice President will build strong relationships with legislators, regulators and government leaders and their staffs.

Job Duties

Execute all lobbying strategies on behalf of clients, and serve as a contact for internal and external stakeholders, on various policy issues.

Conduct Business Development activities to grow the size and scope of the firm.

Maintain thorough working knowledge of the public policy landscape in Washington.

Establish and maintain relationships with legislators, regulators and government leaders and their staffs.

Advising and aiding the development of grassroots advocacy initiatives.

Represent clients at public meetings, coalition gatherings, policy roundtables, etc..

Monitor, track and report out on legislative trends and initiatives that may impact clients. Anticipate and identify emerging and potential issues.

Must be able to communicate effectively, research deeply into statutory and regulatory formats, and write efficiently.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required (Masters/Advanced degree a plus)

5+ years of government affairs/advocacy/policy experience

Strong organization and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)

Broad interest in domestic policy issues

Attention to detail and thorough preparation before Congressional meetings and prompt and effective follow up.

 

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $100,000-$125,000, commensurate with experience. Our firm offers generous healthcare insurance benefits and paid time off, and after one year of employment, enrollment in a 401k account with matching contributions.+
