Director Government Relations
Overview. Executive position within Honeywell’s Global Government Affairs function supporting across businesses and functions, including Honeywell Building Technologies (HBT) and Safety and Productivity Solutions (SPS).
Primary Function. Advising and advocating for legislative and regulatory policies that support business objectives, providing sales support for major contract wins with government customers and state-owned enterprises, and enabling relevant tax, grant and incentive benefits that lower costs.
Reporting. Reports to the Vice President, Government Relations for High Growth Regions, Honeywell Building Technologies, and Tax. Matrix to the Vice President, Government Relations for Europe, Middle East, and Africa and SPS. No direct subordinate reports.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Government Relations – Serves as a strategic representative of Honeywell to stakeholders at the highest levels of the US Government, specifically including leaders within the White House, relevant federal agencies, and Congress, as well as trade associations. Develops and maintains strong professional relationships with key stakeholders within these entities, and secures, prepares, and manages business and senior executive meetings. Actively participates to influence the legislative process and educate regulators on issues and strategies important to Honeywell and to secure favorable outcomes.
Strategic Planning – Develops, supports, and executes strategic advocacy and business development plans in partnership with the businesses.
Legislative, Budget, & Policy Analyst – Identifies, analyzes, and disseminates timely and thorough analysis of impactful legislation, budget, appropriations, and policy to company stakeholders.
Subject Matter Expertise – Expert knowledge of federal level government, how it functions, how to engage and influence.
Strategic Communications – Develops, supports, and executes strategic communications efforts to government, industry and internal stakeholders.
Business Development – Leads, facilitates, supports, and executes business development strategies and campaigns.
HIPAC Management – Serves as a member of the Honeywell International Political Action Committee (HIPAC) oversight and management committee. Serves as an advocate and subject matter expert on HIPAC. Serves as a HIPAC representative internally to business leaders, and externally to HIPAC recipients (including regularly attending HIPAC events).
State & Local Affairs – Serves as a representative to State and Local officials and stakeholders regarding Honeywell’s business units.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in political science, policy, business, international relations, engineering, or similar required.
Experience: 10+ years’ experience working in senior government related functions. Specific, demonstrated, and successful experience working in either a government relations role in a large multi-national company or with one or more government agencies. Expert knowledge of the US federal government, how it functions, how to engage and influence.
Expertise – Demonstrated expertise in government processes and policy. Successful experience in working professionally and confidently with senior leaders, including government leaders, political appointees, and elected officials. Ability to work in a demanding team environment is required. Ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources, identify and analyze the most relevant points for the specific audience and communicate effectively verbally or through written formats, including power point. Record of providing clients with advice that blends government relations experience, expert legislative knowledge and an understanding of, and appreciation for, a client’s business objectives.

Organizational skills – Adept at leading an effective operating system and process to drive results and to measure effectiveness of the group’s outcomes. Ability to set priorities, and the discipline to execute to those priorities, while also actively understanding organizational priorities to contribute or adjust as needed.
Office Skills – Competency in using modern office functions and basic, professional information technology systems (including, but not limited to word processing, analytical, presentation, communications and database software) is required.
