A critical component to the mission of the organization is around volunteer activism. With the age of digital engagement, the Director of Grassroots Advocacy and Campaigns will help to lead digital advocacy efforts around mission-centered campaigns. Additionally, in conjunction with the SVP of OGA, the Director will work in conjunction with local markets, the office of Volunteer Engagement, and Grassroots Advocacy Managers to build out a national grassroots and grasstops advocacy plan which empowers MoD volunteers to become effective advocates.

Position Responsibilities
Responsible for the direction and overall management of the Grassroots and Grasstops database to create an informed and engaged pool of advocates

Work cross-functionally with other departments and staff to include Volunteer Engagement, MIH Directors, and local markets on the recruitment of grassroots advocates, as well as the cultivation and engagement of grasstops advocates within local markets

Work with MarComms on Social Media and other digital posts regarding advocacy activities

Draft Action Alerts in conjunction with input from the federal and state OGA teams

Create presentations on relevant advocacy issues to maintain and cultivate grasstops and grassroots engagement in conjunction with Grassroots Advocacy Managers

Position Qualifications
5 to 7 years directly related and progressively responsible experience

Four year college degree or equivalent experience; Master of Arts degree in Political Science or a related field is a plus

Project management experience

Experience creating digital/social media messaging from an advocacy viewpoint

Experience running issue or candidate campaigns on the state or federal level

Experience working and developing grassroots databases and campaigns

Understanding of maternal health issues specifically or an established knowledge of a specific healthcare industry

Synthesize complex issues, complete work with short turnaround times, handle multiple projects simultaneously, curious, collaborative

Coalition advocacy experience is a plus
