Director, Investment & Competitiveness Policy

The Global Business Alliance is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated professional with at least five years’ worth of relevant experience to lead GBA’s policy work related to investment & competitiveness policy. Specifically, the Director will lobby on policies that impact America’s ability to attract and retain foreign direct investment, including supply chain regulations, government procurement policies, cybersecurity and data privacy initiatives, CFIUS and export control activities, as well as political participation policies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Represent GBA on key policies affecting America’s ability to attract and retain foreign direct investment, including supply chain regulations, Buy America(n) and other government procurement policies, cybersecurity and data privacy initiatives, CFIUS and export control activities, as well as political participation policies
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with senior U.S. government officials to maximize appropriate participation by GBA in the policymaking process, including by serving as a credible source of information and analysis
  • Track legislation through committee and floor action on these policy priorities
  • Help build coalitions in support of GBA’s priorities among third-party organizations
  • Direct advocacy-related events, such as membership meetings and lobby days
  • Manage a team of consultants and coordinate member company participation in order to maximize value

Qualifications include:

  • A minimum of five years working for a Member of Congress as a national security legislative assistant or an equivalent position
  •  Excellent writing and communication skills, with exacting attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Proactive organizational skills, with excellent follow-through and a positive attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Mastery of the legislative process
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in economics, political science, journalism or related fields
