Job Overview:

The Land and External Relations Director will be responsible for leading two critical portions of Carbon America’s project development and operations team: (1) Land; and (2) External Relations.

As a leader of Land, you will provide land management for all aspects of the Company’s real-property strategy, including surface and subsurface acquisition as necessary for the capture, transportation and sequestration of CO2. You will lead members of the land group and support the General Counsel in negotiating and drafting legal instruments for transactions involving strategic real property targets and negotiating with landowners. You will support the commercial development group by efficiently assessing real property prospects and helping to develop land acquisition strategies that align with corporate goals.   You will ensure that the Company’s land group is effectively managing the acquisition of real-property rights and maintaining real-property assets and asset records while staying abreast of current Federal and State land regulations and applicable case law. You will establish, cultivate, and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and industry competitors.

As a leader of External Relations, you will build a team to engage with, and represent the Company before, project stakeholder groups such as local community members and state and local government entities with whom the Company’s project development and execution teams interact on a regular basis. As a leader of External Relations, you and your team will often be the “face” of the Company and the first interaction with stakeholders.  You will be responsible for advocating on behalf of the Company in support of the Company’s carbon capture and sequestration projects.

The Director will also engage across disciplines and leadership within Carbon America to gather input and insight as necessary to develop land acquisition and stakeholder outreach strategies.   You will work with the Carbon America team to ensure that the Company disseminates clear and consistent messaging to all project stakeholder groups.

Carbon America is a growing team and this position will play an integral role in developing the Land and External Relations groups.
