The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for overseeing, planning and directing the day-to-day marketing and communications operations of Draken International. This position reports directly to the VP, Business Development and works closely with the Chief Operations Officer and other members of the Executive Team. He/she will ensure the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy is designed to maximize the company’s success and public profile.

The Director of Marketing and Communications is also responsible for identifying communication opportunities throughout the organization and should be well-networked with formal and informal employee groups, board members and key stakeholders who influence our organization. In addition, the Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for successfully positioning the organization through targeted marketing messages and organizational branding to specific audiences.

Within the BD mission area, the Director shall:

  • Conduct an immediate word-by-word, click-by-click review of the Draken International website (and develop the review process by which they are kept current)
  • Update the website per the review, ensure Draken ownership of the website/domain name, capture and report all costs associated with domain/website ownership and any associated desired upgrades
  • Perform periodic news releases (at least once per month) on the website
  • Develop and maintain Draken International Fact Sheets (and develop the review process by which they are kept current)
  • Develop and maintain the Business Card Program (maintain the template approved by CEO/COO, place/deliver orders, maintain vendor base for Business Card Program, develop Business Card Program budget)
  • Develop and maintain a Draken Twitter presence
  • Develop and maintain a Draken Facebook presence
  • Develop and maintain the Draken-wear program including maintaining required trademark/copyrighted images, place/deliver orders, maintain the vendor base, develop the Draken-wear Program budget)
  • Monitor DoD websites and media daily for items directly relevant to Draken International, our competitors, and the adversary air industry — deliver items to leadership team with recommended responses
  • Monitor Draken International competitors’ media/social media presence and report new developments to VP of Business Development
  • Develop and manage a marketing and advertising budget based on annual strategies
  • Maintain and optimize leadership biographies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with DoD, Service, and industry organizations’ media arms (i.e. Air Force Association, etc)
  • Coordinate and integrate HR/Recruiting inputs into the website/social media presence (as appropriate)
  • Create and maintain up-to-date digital photos, videos, and graphical representations of Draken International for BD use in proposals — develop the process by which end users can request photos and create a budget
  • Develop and maintain the Draken Company history
  • Field all requests for interviews of Draken personnel, report to leadership for approval, prepare interviewees, guide the interview process, edit final products (as appropriate)
  • Coordinate with BD/execute Corporate Sponsorship Program in line with overall corporate strategy — develop the process including the request and management of the budget
  • Coordinate with BD for tasks associated with Tradeshows
  • Analyze and interpret analytics and relevant tracing metrics, recommend keywords and prioritization/optimization, and produce weekly website performance
  • Manage Monthly Employee Newsletter including writing content, integrating content from Draken departments, e-publish, and drive for feedback
  • Manage all on-line surveys requested by management and report results to applicable department leads
  • All other duties as assigned

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication, editing and customer service skills
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Strong computer skills required, including proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office Suite, publishing, graphics and imaging applications
  • Must be able to work independently and be team oriented, organized, detailed, goal and results driven
  • Possess strong relationship management skills
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related discipline; master’s degree preferred
  • 5 or more years related industry experience preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands:

  • Must be able to travel a minimum of 25% of the time, with little notice and be able to travel by air/ground any day of the week
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance, maintain an active Passport and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level
