Under the direction of the Chief Marketing Officer, the Director of Marketing & Communications, Research Enterprise, provides general marketing support for Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM). The candidate must be able to support integrated fundraising, development, communications and marketing functions and activities across all operations of the Institution. Job responsibilities may also include communicating and representing the Institution to customers, the public, government, and other external audiences. Typical functions include corporate and foundation relations, annual giving, capital campaigns, trusts and bequests, marketing, public relations, media relations, government affairs, events planning, and alumni relations.

Manages internal and external communications and marketing activities for the Institution.

Assists in the strategic planning and project management of marketing campaigns and initiatives, consistent with institutional goals and objectives and acts as a strategy champion for implementing strategic plan marketing initiatives.

Prepares and distributes news releases, media advisories and calendar information to the appropriate media, as well as devising pitching techniques to ensure placement and/or coverage.

Oversees design and layout services for publications, marketing materials, and web properties ensuring brand consistency .

Drive web and social media presence for dedicated core business units/departments.

Assists in providing public relations counsel to key faculty and staff.

Manages the maintenance of public affairs records, files and other materials.

Attends various community meetings, activities (professional societies, communication organizations, colleges/universities, government, etc.) on behalf of the Institution.

Serves as marketing liaison with businesses in conjunction with institutional advancement.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a related field; advance degree not required but strongly preferred. Degree must be from a regionally accredited college or university.

Experience: 5-8 years of related experience.

Experience in Higher Education is preferred
Experience in Research is preferred
