About the Role:
The Director maintains and enhances the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources, including policies, programs, and practices. They will partner with executive management to identify talent gaps and address the needs of departments, vice presidents, directors, managers, and staff in key positions. The Director is responsible for full, accurate, and equitable administration of all compensation, benefits, performance management and recruitment needs of the organization. The Director of People Operations will report to the VP, People and Culture.
What You Will Do:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of benefits, compensation, recruitment, and employee relations.
- Act as a thought partner to brainstorm and conceptualize new programs and policies.
- Manage the staff compensation plan and ensure equity in salaries for new and existing staff.
- Effectively interface with all levels of the organization to coordinate and oversee all people-related and operations activities.
- Oversee staff training and development to include executing and managing all staff training and development curriculums.
- Administer the performance review process to include performance lookbacks and upward assessments and lead the process of conceptualizing and executing colleague-level reviews.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and staff on work-related issues.
- Manage and implement personnel policies.
- Manage the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and maintain personnel files and Personnel Action Forms.
- Communicate and ensure compliance and consistency with office practices and policies and compliance with all employment related laws.
- Make certain that all administrative systems and processes are highly reliable and executed seamlessly, with a proactive approach.
- Keep informed and up to date regarding industry standards and best practices related to non-profit HR management.
- Other duties as necessary and related.
What You Will Bring:
- A minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience with at least 5 years of progressive and hands-on HR generalist experience and 3-5 years supervisory experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required and professional certification in HR management is preferred.
- Must have a working knowledge and be current with all relevant employment related laws.
- Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, benefits administration, organizational planning and development, employee relations, safety, training and development and office administration.
- Must have basic computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and HRIS programs.
- Must be accurate and efficient, high energy, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Superior interpersonal and coaching skills including patience and ability to work well with staff at all levels.
- Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality and excellent organization skills.
- A skilled negotiator, consensus builder, and communicator with the ability to patiently and expertly manage conflicts and challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully participate on senior management teams that provide leadership and strategic direction.
- Excellent analytical skills and good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.

Salary Range – $109,271 – $127,926
Office Re-opening Statement
During the Covid-19 pandemic, staff may opt in to work from the office. Most staff have chosen the option to work remotely. Through an internal working group and staff input, we are assessing how and when we will return more fully to the office. We anticipate that staff will return to the office in some capacity later this year. For now, there is no requirement to work from the office through the end of 2022.
