Job Summary:

Director, Policy Communications

The Director of Policy Communications role will serve as a key leader within The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) Corporate Communications team, which is responsible for overseeing the development and management of The Walt Disney Company’s reputation through external and internal communications strategies that support the company’s strategic priorities and vision.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Work closely with VP, Policy Communications to implement policy communications and public affairs strategy in Washington, D.C. to expand awareness, reach, and visibility of the company’s policy and government relations priorities and advocacy with key stakeholders and constituents.
  • Build, maintain, and leverage strong relationships with the D.C. and national media to positively position TWDC.
  • Assist VP, Policy Communications in developing and executing public affairs campaigns and strategies around policy issues, both internal and external.
  • Write statements and talking points for external and internal audiences, and help oversee and manage any content creation by agencies related to policy communications.
  • Provide research and analysis of issues affecting or likely to impact TWDC.
  • Assist VP, Policy Communications in identifying and securing coverage with key D.C. and national media and participation in relevant events, working in conjunction with the Government Relations team to identify and execute on opportunities.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Corporate Communications, Government Relations, Legal, Public Policy, CSR and other various teams across the company on policy communication strategies and messaging.


  • 8+ years of experience working on policy matters and previous experience working in corporate or policy communications, public affairs, crisis communications, issues management, or journalism
  •  5+ years of experience working with policymakers, local and national media
  • Experience working on regulatory issues
  • Strong relationships with D.C. press and national media
  • Highly motivated and a natural self-starter, this person should have a deep understanding of the media landscape (both local and national), be hands-on, and capable of managing proactive and reactive communications from strategy to execution
  • Ability to work quickly and cross-functionally is necessary
  • Proficiency with analyzing the effectiveness of media campaigns
