Director, Public And Government Affairs – Corporate Affairs
What you’ll do…
**Position based in Springfield, Illinois or Indianapolis, Indiana areas**
The Director, Public Affairs and Government Relations is responsible for the day to day lobbying of state and local elected officials in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.
Work cross functionally with our Operations team, Real Estate team and internal partners to serve customer needs and support business goals;
Manage day-to-day engagement with public affairs consultants, trade associations and key stakeholders;
Direct and execute political giving, community and reputational strategies for the company; and
Communicate Walmart’s priorities with external stakeholders; and communicate recommendations, strategies, and progress with internal senior leaders.
You’ll make an impact by:
Advancing the company’s position at industry and legislative events, conferences, public forums, committee hearings, and panels; preparing statements and testimony; presenting at issue panels and national conferences; testifying at local and state legislative hearings; and discussing emerging issues or pending legislation with external stakeholders.
Collaborating with leadership to develop messaging and implementing multi-channel media strategies to drive and enhance the company’s reputation.
Working across the enterprise to solve business critical challenges.
Timely and effective communications with key internal stakeholders.
You’ll sweep us off our feet if…
You have 5-10 years’ experience in public affairs
Your public affairs experience spans across public and private sectors
You have teamwork mentality and strong communication skills with the ability to influence
You use objective financial and business analyses to evaluate the returns and risks of business choices resulting in making sound judgements
You foster and promote a customer member focused environment
Travel – Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle. Traveling is necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position. Travels domestically between and within Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky requiring consecutive overnight stays.
