Lyft is looking for an experienced Director of Public Policy for the East Region of the U.S. and Canada to join our fast-growing and fast-paced team!  Based in New York City, this position will manage a team of Public Policy Managers across New England, New York State, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, DC, Maryland, Virginia, Ontario and Quebec. This proven manager and policy expert will help craft Lyft’s policy priorities and manage teams working with elected officials, policymakers, and key stakeholders at all levels of government.


  • Develop, manage and lead Lyft’s legislative, regulatory, and political strategy in the Eastern United States and Canada
  • Manage a team of internal Public Policy Managers and external policy consultants
  • Represent Lyft in interactions with electeds, government and agency officials and staff, including providing testimony in legislative and regulatory hearings
  • Work cross-functionally and with Lyft senior management on developing public policy priorities that advance Lyft’s operations and business interests
  • Work closely with Lyft’s Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Communications teams
  • Develop and advocate for policies that support the growth of ridesharing and new mobility options.


  • 8+ years of political, legal and/or relevant business development experience
  • Significant management experience leading and coaching a team
  • Experience with a legislative body, executive branch/agency, transit authority, local/county/state Department of Transportation, or transportation NGOs a plus
  •  Law Degree preferred but not required
  •  Exceptional strategic and proactive problem-solving skills
  •  Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  •  Natural connector and relationship builder
  •  Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) – you know how to tell a good story and advocate your position
  •  Lyft user / believer
