Director of Publications & Communications
Act as executive editor of IIBEC Interface, the association’s technical monthly journal.
o Determine, with assistance of Interface Peer Review Board (IPRB) and the Technical Editor, annual themes for journal issues.
o Solicit, gather, vet, edit, proof, and coordinate the content and publication of each issue.
o Direct production and publication teams in the production of each issue in print and digital form.
o Work with the Director of Marketing and Sales on advertising content and placement for each issue.
o Serve as Staff Liaison to IPRB committee.
Manage content, write copy, and copyedit work submitted for Newsfeed, annual membership guide, press releases, event promotions and brochures, print and digital advertisements, the website, social media, and more.
Serve as production manager for all IIBEC content including conference proceedings, annual membership guide, event promotions and brochures, IIBEC’s single-title publications, and more.
Production manager responsibilities include establishing or enforcing policies and procedures for the department; maintaining IIBEC style manual; determining and communicating project schedules; managing freelance copyeditors, graphic designers, proofers, and printers; and soliciting quotes for printing, design, photography, and other production-related products and services.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience managing publishing projects in both print and digital formats.
Excellent project management, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task to manage a range of competing deadlines and projects.
Ability to set goals and priorities and work under minimal supervision.
Professional interpersonal and customer service skills for communicating information to staff, association members, and freelancers.
Excellent and proven creative writing, editing, copyediting, and proofreading skills. You may be asked to complete a copyediting test.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InCopy, InDesign, or Photoshop is a plus.
Knowledge and experience in WordPress.
