Responsible for coordination, planning and company-wide execution of global regulatory positions/policies.  The Director, Regulatory Compliance and Affairs, will comprehend regulatory issues in the commercial vehicle markets, communicate implications with proposed solutions to senior leadership, lead cross functional teams and represent Allison Transmission externally as the policy/regulatory contact

Responsibilities:

  • Program Management of cross-functional activities related to mobile source emissions and global compliance/reporting matters
  • Be the company point person on global regulations understanding and implementation, including but not limited to Global mobile source emission regulations, regulation of Materials and Substances content, IMDS (International Material Data System) implementation, CQI-9, Noise and Harshness OEM standards, ISO26262, as well as other regulatory policies that may develop in the future.
  • Be the external face / contact to agencies, industry, OEM’s and various third parties on Mobile Source Emissions and other regulatory policies.
  • Attend industry conferences/events as required
  • Monitor regulations globally, gathering input from internal, industry, OEM’s, etc. and breakdown into understandable, meaningful and actionable information to help positively position Allison Transmission.
  • Help prioritize new product development and variant innovation product concepts, based on regulatory requirements (including opportunities born out of those requirements).
  • Lead monthly Regulations Steering Committee meetings/tasks and report outs as required
  • Able to lead cross-functional projects such as updating warranty systems, based on regulations and policies.
  • Support Product Management with interpretations and implications of future regulations as they relate to our products and processes
  • Regulatory Steering Committee Leader (Allison Transmission internal)
    • Lead in prioritizing cross-functional regulatory opportunities
    • Assist in coordination of internal and external compliance communications
  • Perform relevant research to identify available funding opportunities that support R&D priorities and opportunities
  • Write or support writing of proposals and other required materials such as grant reporting requirements
  • Staying current in industry developments and proposed legislation and rule making with regard to commercial vehicles (conventional, electric or hybrid)
  • Manage grants and programs by tracking progress and communicating results; maintain all records
  • Develop and foster relationships with funding organizations (i.e. liaison to the IEDC, CALSTART, national labs)
  • Liaison to industry groups such as 21st Century Truck, NACFE etc. – attend workshops and leadership events (or coordinate ATI representation as needed)

Experience:

  • Minimum Education – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Political Science, Communications or equivalent.  MBA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in transportation related industry or Government Affairs
  • C-Level; interaction and presentation

Required skill sets:

  • Ability to comprehend highly complex information and articulate in a simple, understandable manner
  • Excellent public speaker
  • Ability to navigate in a corporate setting, using relationships, processes and procedures
  • Ability to develop proposals and solutions to meet the needs of Allison Transmission
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, lead with confidence and integrate with various business functions
  • Extreme attention to detail and highly organized
  • Working knowledge of a public company preferred
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and SharePoint
