As the Employee Communications and Engagement Leader at Bezos Academy, you will design and execute an organization-wide strategy to strengthen our culture, increase the exchange of internal information, and facilitate engagement and joy across a geographically distributed workforce. You will combine structure and creativity to identify the systems we need to implement, and the habits we need to form, to be the most supportive, inclusive, and welcoming workplace we can be. In this role, you will be our connectivity and work culture expert by observing, researching, and understanding the needs and perspectives of our employees, whether they work at our headquarters, one of our school locations, or remotely. You will inform and advise senior leadership and colleagues and hold them accountable to world-class best practices in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. You will oversee and deploy new internal communications channels, team events, and employee celebrations.

You have strong business acumen, the ability to develop trusted relationships across lines of difference and know how to help guide a rapidly growing and diverse workforce through challenge and change. Above all, you share our passion for expanding access to tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschools in underserved communities, supporting our readiness to scale to hundreds of schools nationwide.

LOCATION

  • Flexible in the United States; Seattle, WA preferred.
  • Relocation support is available for those who are able to move to Seattle, Washington.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Eight or more years of experience working in the field of communications, with at least three years in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of successful project management experience, including leading the vision, strategy, and execution of a function
  • Experience creating new processes, procedures, and systems, and establishing metrics to assess outcomes across a geographically distributed organization
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, and experience with visual storytelling
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to industry-leading diversity, equity, and inclusion practices, and experience building trusted relationships across lines of difference
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of time

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives
  • Experience leading or planning events
  • Prior experience in a mix of start-up and established organizations, and in leading an organization through rapid growth and change
  • Prior work in education or another non-profit organization
  • Experience using an equity lens to critically examine internal communications and engagement activities, and in creating innovative solutions
  • Experience with intranet implementation, content design, and site management
  • Prior success designing and managing creative virtual and in-person events
