Your Role

As a member of the Executive Communications team, the Communications Manager, will be responsible for working directly with the Co-CEOs to promote Gensler through media thought pieces, blog posts, speaking engagements, media interviews, and speeches, creating short and long-form content, and video designed to be shared across multiple channels including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Gensler’s website. The Executive Communications Manager will focus on developing strategic content and managing the external brand positioning of Andy Cohen, Co-CEO, based in our Los Angeles office. This team member will work collaboratively with our other Communications Manager, based in our DC office, focused on strategic content and brand positioning of Diane Hoskins, Co-CEO. Additionally, the Communications Manager will be responsible for driving strategic messages internally (i.e. firm vision, key program launches, strategic initiatives and other related communications) that connect our people to the firm. This role will work closely with the firm’s PR and Marketing teams, along with Gensler’s external PR agency to coordinate seamless messaging and positioning of the firm and its leaders as:

  • Standing for Diversity, Innovation, Design, Creativity

  • Futurists and trend oriented

The Communications Manager will work with the Co-CEOs, Marketing Director, and PR Director and report directly to the Director of Executive Communications. This role is global in scope and includes a broad array of responsibilities and support efforts focused on the communications of the Co-CEOs. This position will be located in Los Angeles or Washington DC.

What You Will Do

Work directly with the Co-CEOs to develop original content in the form of thought pieces, blog posts, media articles, speeches, talking points, etc. as well as work collaboratively with a bi-coastal Executive Communications team including a DC based Communications Manager, and Los Angeles based Senior Graphic Designer, to research, write, storyboard and design both internal and external presentations for the Co-CEOs.

Organizing all of the Co-CEO’s external communications:

  • Scheduling

  • Resource management

  • Team coordination

  • Communication with external point persons

  • Proficient in managing multiple tasks with varied deadlines, a self-starter who can keep projects moving

  • Review & analyze metrics to evaluate content performance


Developing thought pieces, blogs, articles and interview speaking points on critical issues for Gensler Co-CEOs, such as:

  • Design

  • Redefining the Future of Cities

  • Gensler Projects

  • Research Topics: Experience Index, Research Program, Cities Design Index

  • Urbanization

  • Climate Change, Gensler Cities Climate Challenge

  • Social Equity, Inclusion & Diversity

  • Connected Cities

  • Future of Mobility

  • Housing & Homelessness

  • Collaborative Leadership

  • Leadership

  • Business & Consumer Trends

  • Global Creative Enterprise

External Coordination

  • Staying in touch with key individuals related to speaking engagements, and interviews

  • Coordinating all activities with Gensler PR Director and Executive Communications Director


  • Assist in the story-boarding of internal and external presentations

  • Provide support to presentation development

  • Develop script & talking points for presentations

Working with External Organizations and Events

  • Forbes Real Estate Council

  • Fortune CEO Council

  • WSJ CEO Council

  • Urban Land Institute (ULI)

  • World Economic Forum

Coordination within Gensler

Co-CEO’s Hub leadership team including:

  • Firmwide Director of PR

  • Firmwide Director of Executive Communication

  • Firmwide Director of Marketing

  • Firmwide Director of Gensler Research Institute

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelors and Masters in Writing/Communications

  • 7-10 Years’ minimum relevant experience

  • Career experience in the Professional Services sector (Design, Advertising, Law, Creative industry, Tech)

  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of management globally

  • Brilliant writer

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Maintain professional demeanor and keep strict confidentiality

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize

  • Must be organized, efficient and enjoy working with a team

  • Experience in media relations

  • Strong social media skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Proficient knowledge and use of Adobe InDesign required (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat a plus); basic html editing skills is a plus
