Executive Speechwriter and Media Strategist, Office of the President
Position Summary
The Executive Speechwriter and Media Strategist works with the president and senior leaders to develop and execute the communications strategy for the Office of the President. This includes researching and building compelling storylines; writing and editing speeches, editorials, and long-form content; and advancing a core messaging framework for the University. In addition, this role manages the discovery of stories and orchestrates ideation, research, concepting and drafting of powerful storylines, campaigns, and editorial content across all channels. This position is a fixed-term position for 12 months.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree
Required Experience:
10+ years years of experience in media or journalism; on top-tier editorial teams; or internal and executive communications; Experience advising senior leaders on messaging and communications
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong skills in story spotting, research, interviewing, writing, and editing. Demonstrated leadership producing audience-first, insights-based content and storytelling for traditional and innovative channels (eg. websites, newsletters, live events, podcasts, etc.). Notable body of work published in top-tier consumer publications. Deep understanding of current events and global affairs. Discretion and confidentiality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Notable experience with New York University and its global network
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $130,000.00 to USD $170,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
