Hill+Knowlton Strategies is seeking a confident and dynamic fellow to join our Public Affairs team (preferably based in DC area).  This is an opportunity to grow as a communications professional within a global network of energized communications experts. In this role, the individual will work across a variety of clients touching many sectors including technology, mobility and transportation and energy and industrials. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, proactive and comfortable working with colleagues at a variety of levels as well as interacting with clients. Ideally this person will possess a willingness to quickly learn and apply best in class communications skills to support teams across the network and bring a passion for issue advocacy. Previous experience on Capitol Hill or in other public affairs work a plus. 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Conduct in-depth research and compile detailed informational briefs covering a wide array of issues
  • Provide support for regular client deliverables 
  • Create media monitoring reports and compile media analysis around client issues and topics
  • Maintain media lists, research reporters and craft media pitches
  • Play a role in the growth of the U.S. Public Affairs capability  
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with team members across the H+K network, U.S. and globally
  • Learn through a rich curriculum of professional development and training opportunities
  • Contribute your unique ideas and personality to the vibrant H+K company culture

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science or related experience is preferred
  • Strong writing and research skills; extremely well-organized
  • Interest in or experience in politics are a bonus
  • Strong understanding of public affairs and issue advocacy
  • Digital and social media savvy
  • Excellent communications skills, ability to work collaboratively and take direction from team members
  • Comfortable working on fast-paced assignments and willingness to go above and beyond
  • Experience with tools such as Brandwatch, Metlwater, Cision and TV Eyes preferred, but not required
