Fraud Policy Analyst

San Francisco, CA

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

We are looking for a Fraud Policy Analyst who is responsible for formalizing Fraud Policy across Square’s global markets. This includes analyzing fraud trends and high loss events to create global fraud detection policy and capture insights to inform sprint team strategy and operational procedures. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of fraud risk and experience with quality assurance, L&D and workforce management programs to ensure that the core operations team has the support and resources they need to perform their jobs well and create strong feedback loops.

In addition to formalizing fraud policy, the Fraud Policy Analyst will create new policies for Square’s emerging products, scope manual vs. automated work and streamline operational processes as new initiatives are shipped.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and document comprehensive policies and guidelines for the Global Fraud Operations team
  • Create efficiencies in operations by refining process and producing training materials
  • Oversee operational workforce management

  • Monitor, track, and analyze emerging fraud risk trends and provide recommendations for remediation
  • Develop strong internal relationships across risk partner teams (Risk Strategy & Analytics, Risk Product Management, Data Science, and Engineering) and key internal stakeholders (Product Managers, Legal, Customer Success, Compliance, Account Management)

  • 3+ years experience in risk and fraud detection or financial services
  • Experience in project management or operational policy roles
  • Previous experience making high-value decisions with limited information
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills and an ability to synthesize information and make clear, concise recommendations on a course of action
  • A creative and eager mindset, with a bias towards action and finding solutions
  • Adaptable and comfortable with an often-changing, fast-paced environment
  • Experience working on an operations team and providing support to operations teams across different locales
  • Experience with SQL and Looker a plus
  • Able to use data to identify trends and anomalies, as well as to make recommendations for new initiatives
