The Government Affairs Professional 2 is part of the Corporate Affairs team that focuses on legislation and/or regulatory affairs to elected representatives and their staff, as well as to officials and staff in regulatory and other agencies. The Government Affairs Professional 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action. Responsibilities + Research and distill federal legislation, agency reports, and government data for broader consumption and context with Humana priorities. + Generate in PowerPoint presentations, using data and reports, and other expression of ideas, trends, concepts, summaries of what is happening in the Washington DC landscape. + Attend mark ups, hearings, and other events as requested and write summary memos. + Prepare lobbyists for meetings with members including district/state one page summaries, environmental scans of all recent, relevant data and information to better inform policymaker interactions. + Desire and curiosity to understand business functions and priorities and how federal policies may impact them. + Respond to and prepare for congressional district visits and events. + Serve as the lead liaison for congressional casework matters related to Medicare, Medicaid and commercial members, as well as providers who serve those members. This includes responding to incoming inquiries; directing incoming inquiries; working closing with the Critical Inquiry Team on the resolution and written response; providing a final response to the inquiring office; and maintaining records on completed responses. + Perform various administrative duties including serving as the lead contact to the building management and office-specific vendors, monitoring office supply requests, and working with in-house IT support on office communications needs. + Assist Political Action Committee Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer with check requests/printing, tracking, and other related activities. Required Qualifications + Bachelor’s Degree + Minimum of three to five years of professional experience, with experience in either congressional, administrative, campaign, or public affairs organizations highly preferred. + Background and experience in health policy is preferred, but not required. + Fluency and expertise in using PowerPoint and Excel; keenly knowledgeable about social media communications streams and facile with new technology; ability to generate various materials with creativity and understanding of how to communicate to various stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications + Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field + Project Management experience a plus.
