To learn more about the company please visit is seeking a passionate, articulate, and experienced professional to represent our diverse timberlands and manufacturing facilities in the public policy arena.  As a privately-held, family-owned company with over 80 year of history, Roseburg has built a strong reputation for powerful advocacy of science-based and data-driven policy solutions.  This position will work closely with and report to the Director of Strategic Business Development and External Affairs to manage policy strategies for Roseburg’s growing integrated footprint across North America and will represent the company on legislative, regulatory, and political issues. Key Responsibilities
    • Monitor and anticipate legislative and regulatory policies of local, state, and federal governments that may impact the company
    • Build and maintain relationships with government officials, industry associations, and affiliated parties
    • Research policies and develop creative solutions to complex problems
    • Draft, submit and/or present public comments to government officials
    • Communicate policy updates, implications, and strategies internally to key personnel
    • Coordinate with Resources, Operations, or Legal divisions as appropriate
    • Serve as Roseburg’s representative at political events, industry forums, and other gatherings
    • Maintain and promote a positive image of Roseburg

  • Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of related experience in forestry, natural resources, public policy, or government relations; specific experience may affect requirement for years of service
    • Passion for advancing sound forest management and a robust timber industry
    • Strong strategic analysis and problem-solving skills
    • Understanding of scientific principles
    • Excellent listening, writing, and verbal communications skills
    • Self-directed, able to meet deadlines, and work independently
    • Maintains composure in high-pressure situations
    • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and can effectively and appropriately interact with a wide variety of audiences including public officials, scientists, operations managers, technical staff, industry leadership, and the general public
    • Comfortable in public settings
    • Advanced presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to set and articulate clear objectives
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent organizational skills
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
    • Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional internal and external team environment
    • Extensive experience in a natural resource industry
    • History of public policy engagement


    • Advanced degree in forestry or natural resource science
    • Experience working for the business side of a natural resource industry with a strong preference for forestry
