BOMA/GLA is looking for a highly motivated, energetic, and resourceful Government Affairs Manager to join our team. In this position you will serve as an association advocate, representing the interests of the commercial real estate industry. Your role will help innovate BOMA/GLA’s program offerings, connect with members on key legislative and business issues, and assist with the execution of our strategic priorities.

The Government Affairs Manager supports the advocacy efforts of the association by assisting the Director of Government and Public Affairs in coordinating the legislative analysis, stakeholder engagement, and political activities of the association. Duties will include coordinating meetings with legislators and other public officials, performing research on public policy issues important to the organization, composing policy briefs, mobilizing BOMA/GLA’s membership on behalf of our legislative agenda, and assisting with the activities of the regional councils and other advocacy committees as needed.



  • Scans the environment to identify and stay on top of issues and concerns that could impact the membership and industry.
  • Monitor and attend meetings for city councils, regulatory bodies, administration, and any other stakeholder groups.
  • Meets with legislators and government officials and their representatives to gain an advantage in being on the front end of information flow and decision-making as it pertains to legislative and governmental action on issues impacting the CRE industry.
  • Read and study legislative bills, meeting records, transcripts, and other documentation to stay on top of industry matters.
  • Organize grassroots advocacy campaigns as directed.
  • Serve as the staff lead for our regional council meetings, regional roundtables, and other programs. This includes preparing and distributing agendas, attending meetings, and taking notes.
  • Assists in the coordination of government affairs events.
  • Assist volunteer leaders with management of assigned committees. This includes scheduling, communicating with the committee volunteers, and assisting them with educational programming and content for distribution.
  • Serve in an assistance role for virtual and in person education seminars, this includes onsite management and virtual facilitation.
  • Communicate with members and strategic partners on key legislative and public affairs.
  • Curate content for our website, blog, publications, and social media on key industry topics.
  • Support fundraising efforts and events for the Political Action Committee and the Industry Defense Fund.
  • Research background information on political candidates under consideration for PAC contributions.
  • Other duties as assigned to support BOMA/GLA’s advocacy program.

  • Prepare and analyze comprehensive reports and carry out assigned projects to their completion.
  • Organize and make sense of complex and rapidly changing information.
  •  Utilize various technology platforms including OneDrive, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, Asana, Zoom, CRM systems.
  • Thrive in a paperless work environment.
  • Handle confidential material and information in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Effectively communicate with, present information to, and respond to questions.
  • Inspire, motivate, and influence the behavior of a highly diverse group of people in individual, group, and large audience situations internal and external to the organization.



Minimum of five (5) years experience in government affairs, public policy, public relations, or similar field.

Bachelor’s Degree in political science, social science, public policy, public affairs, or similar major.

Experience in public speaking.
