We’re hiring for a Manager of Government and Legislative Affairs who will work with the Government Affairs team and internal and external stakeholders to formulate and execute company positions and strategies on issues before state and federal agencies and governments.

The Types of “Energy” You Bring –

  • You are someone with strong advocacy, negotiation and communication skills.
  • You are strategic and organized with the ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • You ideally have 7 or more years of experience in public policy and lobbying.
  • You have demonstrated experience in developing both long- and short-term advocacy strategies and tactics along with coalition building with diverse interests to advance policy priorities.
  • You understand grass roots advocacy and how to inspire action.
  • You have a solid understanding of energy and fuels policy issues.

“Gauges” of Responsibility

  • Lead Global’s internal bill assessment process before and during legislative sessions.
  • Work with Global’s diverse teams to determine company legislative policies.
  • Analyze proposed and actual laws and regulations, identify impact areas of Global, engage subject matter experts, and provide analysis and advocacy plans.
  • Coordinate outreach and engagement efforts in support of company initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain favorable strategic relationships with state agency personnel, lawmakers, and interest groups.
  • Work with customers and other stakeholders to identify common interests and work to further them when consistent with the company’s overall priorities and objectives.
  • Serve as a company spokesperson in appropriate forums and testify before public bodies.
  • Prepare reports regularly to management on status of major initiatives, rulemakings, and activities.

  • Work experience in a legislative environment (e.g, state legislature, Congress) a plus.
  • A minimum of 7 years of policy, government, or advocacy experience.
  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in political science, environmental science, business or other related field or equivalent experience.
