About the job

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) is seeking a hands-on Government Relations Manager to manage federal government relations efforts across a range of policy priorities, with a focus on agriculture and technology policy. The ideal candidate will have five years of experience working in government relations for a trade association, industry group, or government affairs consulting firm, or in a legislative capacity for a member of Congress. The position will be responsible for managing various aspects of the Association’s day-to-day federal government relations efforts. Responsibilities include tracking legislation and managing the legislative database, reviewing and assessing relevancy and impact on the industry, and working with relevant internal and external stakeholders on appropriate responses; assisting in the formulation and execution of advocacy strategy around specific policy priorities; building and managing relationships with Capitol Hill offices, member companies, and industry groups and coalitions; assisting in the development and execution of industry events; planning and organizing webinars and events; participating in research projects; developing content on the association’s policy priorities; and representing the industry before federal elected officials and external stakeholders. Requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; superior written and verbal communications skills; ability to set priorities, work independently, and produce materials in consistent, efficient, and timely manner; thorough understanding of the policy and political landscapes and outstanding legislative analysis skills.
