Government Relations and Policy Analyst
The Government Relations and Policy Analyst will support the advocacy, policy, and communications initiatives of Fidelity’s Government Relations and Public Policy team. S/he will be in the middle of the action in the Washington office for one of the nation’s leading financial services firms, and will be expected to cover and keep the team advised of legislative and regulatory developments, support internal and external policy communications, and develop digital collateral materials to help advance the firm’s advocacy objectives. The role will provide opportunities to contribute to strategy and planning on key initiatives and expand your network in Washington while covering (digitally initially) congressional hearings, trade association meetings, and third-party programming.
Sits within Fidelity’s broader Communications group, which includes Internal and External Communications, Regional Public Affairs, and Community Relations. Known collectively as the Communications, Public Affairs and Policy Group (CPAPG), CPAPG is focused on executing on Fidelity’s core mission of better serving our customers and the communities we work in through impactful communications and policy outcomes across a range of stakeholder audiences, including legislators and regulators, community members, media, industry influencers and associates. As part of a centralized organization, you will have a role in supporting activities on impactful issues facing the enterprise. You will interact regularly with our core business units, including asset management, personal investing, workplace investing, custody and clearing, and the health care group to coordinate public affairs priorities. Externally, we engage regularly with members and staff of the U.S House of Representative, U.S. Senate, Administration and regulatory officials, as well as industry trade organizations and state government officials. You will be a key player in supporting this dynamic team, with a specific focus on matters of federal and state legislation, regulation, and policy communications.
THE EXPERTISE YOU HAVE
Public Policy; and/or Financial Services; Capitol Hill; Public Relations; Public Affairs experience preferred
Excellent English writing skills
Proficient in PowerPoint slide design
THE SKILLS YOU BRING
Experience in public relations, government affairs, public policy, or corporate communications
Familiarity with financial services public policy issues
Capable of efficiently producing detailed research; qualitative analysis; and clear, concise written work
Expertise in crafting executive-level presentations and advocacy materials
Proficient with digital media campaigns/advocacy
Excel in working in a highly collaborative team environment
THE VALUE YOU DELIVER
Providing research, analysis, material development and project management support to advance the government relations and public policy team efforts engaging with policymakers, regulators, other government officials and other partners.
Developing dynamic digital materials for external and internal audiences using our suite of creative tools.
Drafting a weekly newsletter and other ongoing political and policy updates for the business on regulatory, legislative and political developments.
Supporting social media communications related to our policy twitter handle and LinkedIn platforms.
Assisting in scanning the external industry environment and collaborating closely with the Business Units to monitor policy, legislative, and regulatory developments.
Tracking and subsequently preparing summaries of outside events, including congressional hearings and regulatory open meetings, with a focus on the potential impact on Fidelity and the industry.
Developing proactive and reactive messaging for internal and external policy communications.
