Are you ready for new challenges at a highly complex and strategic level? If yes, then we have the perfect opportunity for you.
About the department
The Governmental Affairs department is an exclusive business unit within the Austrian affiliate located in Vienna. As Governmental Affairs Director, you report to the General Manager and are a member of the Austrian Leadership Team comprised of 6 other Director colleagues.
The main responsibility will be driving the effort to secure political prioritisation of diabetes and obesity in Austria by ensuring impactful political engagement of Novo Nordisk Austria directly with important political stakeholders plus in and through Pharmig/FOPI. By taking part in this you will be able to advise on all policy issues relevant to the commercial priorities of Novo Nordisk Austria.
In close collaboration with the Market Access Director and the General Manager, you will work with internal and external international stakeholders based on the development of your stakeholder strategy. Thus, you will build multi-stakeholder alliances raising awareness of diabetes via national engagement. Additionally, you will drive excellence and capabilities in Government Affairs via a continuous focus on professional development and thus secure a united and informed patient voice in the political debate.
You hold a master’s degree in social sciences, law, business administration, economics, communication or public health with 10-15 year’s significant work experience in the field of Government Affairs and a convincing track record of successful lobbying on behalf of business and/or political interests. This includes a matching and wide political network and hands-on experience from trade associations and maybe also external PA consultants. Prior experience from the health political area and payer/politician engagement, is a clear asset but not a precondition.
To succeed in this role you have a deep political understanding, strong negotiation and interpersonal skills as well as communications expertise and the ability to work in a matrix set-up with strong cross-function alignment. You have the ability to manage complex projects/issues and the necessary drive and overview to manage and run external GA-events.
You are fluent in German and English. You should also be willing to travel outside of Austria from time to time – it is expected that it will be less than 50% of work time.
