The Grassroots Program Administrator will oversee all aspects of the ASA Grassroots Network including managing and implementing the grassroots and key contact programs to strategically advance ASA advocacy objectives. Will serve as the primary staffer responsible for planning, administering and executing the ASA Legislative Conference. Oversees the processes associated with the Anesthesiology’s Policy Research Rotation in Political Affairs. Assists with promotion, planning and development of advocacy-related events and programs. Works collaboratively across departments and divisions to grow the federal and state grassroots and key contacts programs, Legislative Conference, and to further the advocacy objectives of the Society.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Manage, maintain and further develop a comprehensive ASA grassroots program and Key Contacts list. Update these databases on a continual basis.
Develop and distribute, in a timely manner, electronic correspondence and action alerts, on both federal and state legislative and regulatory issues, to targeted members /regions, the Grassroots Network, and key contacts. Conduct appropriate follow-up and measure success.
Develop, plan and execute the annual ASA Legislative Conference (ASA’s Washington, D.C. fly-in).
Track, analyze and report on grassroots objectives and initiatives.
Respond to ASA member inquiries and requests related to grassroots and advocacy initiatives.
Administer all aspects of the ASA Anesthesiology Policy Research Rotation in Political Affairs (Resident Scholar Program) by planning and executing all recruitment, responding to member interest, verifying and properly processing applications, working with pertinent ASA leadership to ensure proper execution of the selection process, and serving as staff liaison.
Create, design and implement ASAPAC’s bi-weekly PAC newsletter, Vital Signs.
Assist with the development, management and content on the governmental affairs and grassroots website as well as social media platforms.
Bachelor’s degree in the field of political science, communications, information technology or other related studies required.
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in an association, governmental, political or related field, could include a combination of work and professional internships.
Strong experience with web and computer-based software, specifically with utilizing databases and website management.
Legislative, grassroots, or campaign experience is a plus.
Understanding of the political process and how advocacy is conducted in Washington, DC, and the states.
