Group Director, Political Strategy
The Group Director, Political Strategy is a senior-level role accountable for developing and executing The Coca-Cola Company’s political engagement strategy in the United States and Canada to strategically leverage the range of engagement options we use to support legislators at a federal and state/provincial levels, including activation of national political and policy groups, political giving, grassroots activities, and related executive engagement.
Focus, Scope, & Impact:
- Identify, build, strengthen and manage key strategic relationships and company investments with national policy and political organizations across the U.S. and Canada, and collaborate with PACS Zone and Bottler PAC teams to direct system activation of local and national political events.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan in collaboration with the Public Policy and Strategic Communications teams to proactively amplify and advance our “for” public policy positions at national political organization and local political/policy group events across North America to help advance the reputation of the Coca-Cola system.
- Coordinate with industry trade associations to strategically align and leverage industry investments in national political and policy groups with those of the company.
- Collaborate with Federal Lobbying, PACS Zone and Bottler PAC teams to develop and execute a national grassroots strategy for system political engagement in support of our policy priorities and goals.
- Collaborate with the Federal Lobbying and PACS Zone teams to create a strategic giving plan for political candidates that meet our political giving criteria.
- In collaboration with the Legal, PACS Zone and Federal Lobbying teams, oversee compliance with all federal, state and local political reporting laws, including managing all federal and state lobbying and political giving disclosures.
- Develop internal communications and reporting routines to update The Coca-Cola Board of Directors, senior leaders and other key stakeholders on execution of the company’s political engagement vision and strategy.
- Serve as internal thought leader and expert on political engagement trends and governance.
- Manage team to achieve high performance, building trust and developing individual talent through coaching that provides clear direction and fosters a growth mindset.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred; at least
- 15 years’ experience in public affairs in public, private or NGO sector; government experience is preferred;
- Working understanding across multi-cultural, matrixed organization
- Developed stakeholder network
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate complex issues to drive tangible business actions.
- Focus on improving company reputation and driving company purpose through close coordination with Public Policy, Federal Lobbying and PACS Zone teams.
- Ability to monitor, understand and anticipate the political environment in the United States and Canada.
- Effective people management to create an inclusive, curious, iterative environment that empowers the team to execute a culture of growth.
- Collaborate with the Federal GR, Public Policy, PACS Zone and Strategic Communications teams to support an aligned national public policy communication agenda.
- Internal communicator to build consensus, ensure alignment and buy-in from key stakeholders including bottler PAC leads.

- Coalition building and influencing; ability to find “win-win” scenarios
- Experience with public advocacy and grassroots campaigns
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills
- Understanding of the legislative process
- Strong ability to work agilely in different teams, both inside & outside of the system
- Leadership role with demonstrate experience in driving agreement among different entities (internal, public, private & civil society)
