Job Description

As Head of Government Relations, you will:

Lead Rockwell’s GA team to elevate the company’s position as a thought leader and to shape positive policy outcomes. Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for engaging government officials and regulators in the countries where we do business to ensure that Rockwell is able to compete successfully.


This will include:

  • Policy Monitoring & Analysis: Providing updates and analysis to internal stakeholders regarding policy development and potential business implications
  • Proactive Regulatory Monitoring: Advising on compliance and right to operate
  • Relationship building: Cultivating and maintaining relationships with key officials and external stakeholders (e.g., Business Roundtable, National Association of Manufacturers and others, government agencies, etc.)
  • Advocacy: Developing and promoting policy positions to influence legislative and regulatory laws (intellectual property, standards, cybersecurity, trade restrictions, etc.) to advance company priorities
  • Thought Leadership: Creating opportunities for Rockwell executives to engage with key decision-makers through meetings with senior officials, participation in government-sponsored events and meetings, public speaking events, etc.
  • Introducing & Supporting Sales Objectives: Monitoring policy investments, incentives, and other growth opportunities

Here’s what we need from you:

Proven experience leading government affairs. You are a collaborator with new ideas who will:

  • Manage internal and external resources to enhance Rockwell’s profile, to achieve favorable legislative and regulatory outcomes and to support profitable growth across the Americas
  • Serve as government relations advisor for the company on legislative, regulatory, and policy issues at the international, federal, state, and local levels
  • Develop, implement, and lead an enterprise-wide strategy. Accelerate strategy by aligning work, leading a team, working with others and engaging leadership
  • Represent Rockwell with the executive and legislative branches of government
  • Manage critical relationships by attending legislative and regulatory hearings, trade association meetings, issue coalitions, community groups, conferences, and other key events
  • Monitor federal policy and regulatory developments impacting the company
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring stakeholder expectations are managed appropriately
  • The ability to plan and initiate a political advocacy effort and persuasively communicate and advocate for company positions and policies through the legislative process
  • Embrace relationship building and partnership across the organization at all levels
  • Value working in a team-oriented culture and building consensus with stakeholders globally before making key decisions

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.   We will not sponsor work visas for this role now or in the future.
  • Ability to travel, take global calls and attend events outside normal working hours

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Communications, Public Affairs, or related area
  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience including advancing government affairs priorities at a publicly traded global company
  • Existing relationships and credibility with government officials and regulators
  • Proven experience independently leading complex plans and projects from conception to implementation
  • Experience managing an internal team and an external agency
  • Experience advising C-level leaders
  • Manufacturing or tech industry experience a plus
  • Spanish language skills highly desired
