What we’re looking for:

As our Head of Global Policy, you have a unique opportunity to develop Deel’s policy strategy from the ground up. You will be reporting to Deel’s co-founder & CEO, with the goals of building close relationships with key US federal, state, and (eventually) international policy stakeholders, and creating a policy narrative for a proactive and reactive engagement and comms strategy. Your priority will be to help policymakers, in particular those on the Hill, better understand Deel’s mission, business model, and contribution to US growth domestically and abroad.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop Deel’s policy narrative and work with US policymakers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academics and private sector organizations, including local, regional and international organizations, to spread awareness for Deel’s mission and business model
• Ideate, create, and implement programs to address key policy issues, focusing primarily in the US
• Provide new policy framework proposals for policymakers regarding the future of global employment
• Work closely with communications team to create and implement a communications plan aimed at DC policy stakeholders
• Represent Deel in meetings and public events with policymakers and stakeholders and respond to questions and consultations from external stakeholders on relevant policy issues
• Assess and evaluate the impact of legislative, regulatory, and industry proposals
• Provide strategic policy advice to key business partners; assist in the development and management of Deel’s policies on particular issues or product areas

Minimum qualifications:

• 12+ years of demonstrated experience managing public policy and/or government relations and advocacy work
• Experience in policy work for multinational corporation or government preferred
• Extensive policy stakeholder network they can draw from
• Keen understanding of the US political system, political culture, environment and institutions
• Deep experience working and engaging with US policymakers, academic, civil society and non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders
• Ability to exercise judgment and persuasive skills, creativity, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment
• Self-starter, takes initiative, has built out teams and programs before
• Is comfortable with a very fast-paced environment and high growth team
• Global mindset and entrepreneurial spirit
