What we’re looking for:
We are currently seeking a Head of Policy Communications that will guide all communications efforts for worldwide government relations, Twitter’s policies and enforcement, and a wide range of policy-related initiatives and programs. You will be working across key areas including, but not limited to, technology, social impact/ESG, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, privacy and content.
The ideal candidate will have an impressive grasp of the global political landscape, as well as technology, government, and internal policies relevant to Twitter’s business. To be successful in the role you’ll need to excel at corporate positioning, crisis management, sparring with reporters while building strong relationships and mutual trust, and operating in a fast-paced environment. You’ll serve on the global communications leadership team, and report directly to the VP of Communications.
What you’ll do:
Develop and communicate our public positions on key issues to the world.
Lead communications activities on policy issues pertinent to the business, spanning content, technology, government policy, and more.
Execute reactive and proactive communications plans and strategies using all channels: tweets, interviews, blog posts, statements, etc.
Help field in-bound press inquiries on Twitter’s policies.
Liaise with Corporate, Product, Consumer, Customer Comms teams regarding announcements, issues management, and launches.
Cultivate strong relationships with internal partners in Public Policy, Legal, and beyond.
Build new and existing relationships with policy media and set the right tone with more junior staff.
Develop proactive campaigns to educate policy makers and Twitter users on key policy-related issues.
What you need:
A passion for Twitter and our mission.
Excellent debate skills!
15+ years of relevant work experience in public policy, public affairs issues, and crisis communications.
Excellent writing, editing, and messaging skills.
A minimum of a BA/BS degree (no major preferred — we love diverse perspectives) or equivalent work experience.
Effective communication skills across all levels of an organization — from individual contributors to executive staff.
