Directors provide independent executive leadership to manage client relationships including
working with C-suite contacts to develop strategy and tactics to address client needs.
Applied Policy, a rapidly growing healthcare consultancy, is expanding and looking for a selfmotivated professional who can manage an existing portfolio of clients and help expand our
business. The Healthcare Services practice focuses on legislative and regulatory issues
confronting healthcare providers, suppliers, trade associations, and related organizations that
impact, or have the potential to impact, the delivery of cost-effective, high-quality care.
Applied Policy’s services help organizations improve the lives of people by transforming
intention into action. We apply our expertise in Medicare, Medicaid and Health Insurance
Exchanges to help our clients improve the lives of the people they serve — whether they are
sick or disabled or are working to stay well. This position will oversee client relationships with
hospitals, physician practice groups, home health and hospice agencies and related healthcare
services organizations.
We are not registered lobbyists and do not lobby federal or state governments.
Responsibilities
• Independently manage client relationships, understand clients’ business goals, lead
client projects, demonstrate value to clients, and be responsible for project outcomes
• Serve as a subject matter expert on issues relating to healthcare policies, regulations,
legislation and Medicare and Medicaid coverage and payment for healthcare services
and items
• Regularly analyze regulations, legislation, coverage policies and similar issues relating
to Medicare and Medicaid programs and take a proactive approach in applying that
information to each client’s specific situation with recommendations for next steps and
assistance in carrying out those steps
• Involvement in all aspects of client service including strategy development, conducting
client meetings, developing and reviewing deliverables, summarizing regulatory
developments and researching answers to complex questions related to hospitals and
health systems, healthcare providers and physician groups, trade associations and
other service-related organizations

• Effectively communicate complex healthcare policy, regulatory and reimbursement
concepts to clients, stakeholders, and team members through presentations, white
papers, memos, and other appropriate communication mediums
• Manage, develop and expand a team of professionals to deliver work of the highest
quality and accuracy and at the same time maintaining highly satisfied clients
• Pursue opportunities to serve as a thought leader in the healthcare services sector that
further enhance Applied Policy’s reputation and public presence
• Contribute to marketing, business development, and firm management activities
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, with a minimum of five years of
specific experience in health policy analysis, development and/or implementation
o Experience working at the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services or
other HHS agency; provider, plan, or other health services organization; or
consulting firm preferred
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise in healthcare policy, regulations, and payment,
including Medicare, Medicaid and other relevant federal or state programs
• Demonstrated ability to be proactive in anticipating how health policy changes impact
client or stakeholder operations and providing valuable insights to inform strategic
priorities
• Ability to identify challenges and provide innovative solutions to health policy,
regulatory and/or reimbursement related issues
• Experienced in project management and overseeing multiple workstreams to ensure
timely and accurate completion
• Expert at client relationship management with C-suite and senior industry leaders,
understanding their specific needs and providing strategic guidance
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, research, problem-solving
and analytical skills
• Demonstrated leadership in successfully managing, mentoring and developing team
members
• Track record working in collegial and collaborative environments, where client service
and team success are more important than individual success

Our office is located on the Old Town Alexandria, VA waterfront. Applied Policy has a flexible
remote working policy however we have a preference for in-person interaction and expect the
successful applicant to be in the office two to three days per week and available to meet with
clients and teammates in person frequently.
