We have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety, and Sustainability Manager to join Distinguished Vineyards & Wine Partners (DVWP). Reporting to the VP of Operations, this role is responsible for providing support in creation of organizational policy and action plans to continuously improve the health and safety of the DVWP community. This is a full-time, exempt position and the incumbent will be eligible for our outstanding health care benefits, PTO and 401k plan.

In this role, you will lead the Distinguished Vineyards and Wine Partners sustainability council to develop and implement policies and actions that support the preservation of our assets and resources for the long term throughout all three wineries and the DVWP enterprise.


The successful candidate will have a proven track record in proficient technical and analytical skills, strong presentation, communication and negotiating skills, and has strong acumen in understanding and staying abreast of Federal, State, and Local health and safety measures. This person will also encompass advanced skills in program development, SOP creation, budget management and has experience in running sustainability programs.


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Supports wineries in IIPP and safety program development and upkeep to stay compliant with OSHA
  • Develops and administers DV company safety training programs
  • Responsible for keeping current all policies and procedures compliant with both internal and external agency regulations
  • Schedules/conducts Safety Audits of wineries in partnership with site safety teams and Lion AU
  • Works with Lion Safety Leader to integrate programs
  • Maintains OSHA record-keeping requirements for injuries and illnesses; supports investigations of onsite injuries, illnesses and incidents; publishes and communicate the outcomes of investigations investigation reports to leadership.
  •  Develop policies and initiatives that protect and regenerate company assets including water, vineyard land, energy, and winery properties.
  • Support development DV’s sustainability strategy, working cross functionally to ensure continuous improvement toward the company’s long-term sustainability goals, collaboratively engaging others
  • Partner with DV Exec & Marketing on internal and external communication for annual reporting and serve as a point of contact for stakeholders on sustainability information
  • Manage tracking of company-wide sustainability metrics
  • Continually improve the environmental sustainability of our supply chain including packaging dry goods, shipping, and waste streams.
  • Remain current in latest environmental science subject matter and techniques
  • Creates and manages a Sustainability Project Short- and Long-term Planning
  • Tracks accountabilities across Wineries and Vineyards
  • Leads Sustainability Council


We are looking for a qualified individual who holds an Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science/Resource Conservation, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree from an accredited College or University, with at least 5 years’ experience working in food/beverage manufacturing with a concentration in engineering, safety, or operations (specifically wine operations is a plus). Must be highly proficient in using MS Office Suite, including Excel, and have experience using Microsoft Dynamics. Must be able to provide U.S. Work Authorization without current of future sponsorship.
