We are currently hiring an Internal Communications Manager to join a team that’s focused on high-value, company-wide communication. You will lead and innovate communication, connection and engagement for 27,000+ partners—driving Petco’s transformation into a health and wellness company.


What you will get to do: Lead the development and implementation of internal communications strategies, programs, tools designed to communicate with our 27,000+ partners, deepening their Petco knowledge and pride to drive engagement and achieve business objectives.


Essential Job Functions 

  • Partner with communications leadership to develop communication strategies and plans to effectively and regularly communicate relevant information to partners throughout the organization.
  • Writes, edits, designs and distributes internal communications materials, presentations and content (e.g., executive announcements, video scripts, speeches, etc.) via various communications channels.
  • Coaches people across Petco on approaches for effective employee communications, providing counsel and support at all levels.
  • Builds strategic partnerships with business leaders across Petco with an emphasis on Human Resources and retail stores.
  • Conducts analysis of internal customer satisfaction, identifies trends and makes recommendations to improve satisfaction.



Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure key internal communications processes and protocols are followed.
  • Maintain relationships and coordinates activities with vendors to develop internal communications strategies, plans and content.
  • Partner with communications leadership to provide external communications support as needed.

Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, marketing, or related discipline
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible marketing or communications experience or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training.
  • A proven communicator with outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Career path that includes a variety of assignments of increasing responsibility.
  • Demonstrated personal involvement in developing internal communications strategies and in executing those strategies.
  • Experiencing organizing and managing content for large events (500+ people).
  • Experience evaluating, launching, and managing internal communications platforms such as corporate intranets, collaborations tools, and enterprise social networks.
  • Hands-on working knowledge of best practices in the area of online communications, video, print and collaboration tools and media.
  • Clear understanding of business and the role of communications in business.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to balance and lead a diverse roster of activities.
  • Leadership experience is a plus.
  • Experience in internal communications at a retail company is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HR communications and programs is a plus.
