Basic Function


This position contributes to a wide variety of special writing and editorial tasks, including internal and external communications vehicles.  The position plans and executes internal communications for designated initiatives, maintains the intranet website, writes, edits and prepares materials for various internal communications documents and presentations, and assists in special projects and assignments as directed by the President and CEO, Executive Management Team and the Director of Human Resources.

Nature and Scope


This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and leads or participates in communications-related work teams that involve personnel from multiple business units and functional staff areas.  This position will facilitate a variety of internal communications projects from start to finish, perform a full range of communications skills – interviewing, listening, checking facts, writing and editing, and selecting appropriate communications delivery channels that guide, and influence staff awareness, understanding, and engagement of MRIGlobal’s vision, mission, and business objectives.  Supports MRIGlobal’s policies and procedures and adheres to high-quality standards.

Essential Functions


  • Writes, designs and creates content for communication related to the company and HR initiatives, policies and engagement activities
  • Develops internal communication content for newsletters, blogs, All-Staff emails, announcements, website, video, podcasts, etc., that clearly and effectively articulates the company’s and HR’s core messages and ensures organizational consistency
  • Provides day-to day management of the MRIGlobal’s intranet website; writes and/or edits updates for posting, working with staff to edit and update information on subject specific web pages (e.g. Preparedness, SAC, Wellness Program, Water Cooler, the Insider, etc.).  Coordinates and develops answers to questions submitted to AskMRIGlobal
  • Identifies new communication opportunities and ways to efficiently and effectively carry out the employee experience through communications
  • Crafts and executes strategic internal communication plans for new programs, policies, and changes
  • Enhances staff engagement and visibility by featuring employee publications and presentations and reporting on staff teams and morale-building activities on the Globe
  • Develops story ideas, interviews subject matter experts, writes articles, obtains approvals, takes photographs as needed for MRIGlobal events and publications, and performs layout of publications, maintains the distribution lists, and works with the Graphics staff as needed; and maintains Communications photo files
  • Builds and manages relationships with staff and management and provides communication counsel to stakeholders
  • Manages and maintains the TV monitors throughout Headquarters
  • Improves processes with new ideas and tools that are shared across the organization
  • Assists staff with editorial needs, such as proofreading
  • Assists in special assignments and projects as directed by the Executive Management Team (EMT). Works with the Executive Assistant to the President and CEO and the Events Coordinator in creating messaging around scheduled corporate events.  Manages any assigned projects from start to finish with appropriate reporting
  • Works with the Crisis Management Team (CMT) on staff messaging about emergency events

Success Factors


  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues and create a concise and well-written narrative; experience writing captivating content ranging from executive communications and newsletters to talking points and articles
  • Excellent oral, listening, interpersonal, presentation, organization, time management, planning, project and problem solving skills
  • Experience communicating effectively to a variety of audiences by understanding their unique needs and desires
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, coordinate and mange several projects concurrently
  • Must have the ability to work independently as well as to work in a team environment and across organizational lines.
  • Ability to create and use surveys, verbal feedback mechanisms, focus groups, and other communication measurement tools to adjust and improve internal communications.
  • Experience creating metrics to measure communication effectiveness, reach, and engagement
  • High attention to detail and proofreading skills, ability to exercise good judgement and proven ability to manage several projects concurrently with time constraints
  • Ability to be a multimedia guru who effectively messages stakeholders using a variety of methods; i.e., videos, team collaboration software platforms, slide decks, newsletters, email, social media, photographs, video conferencing software, apps, texting, etc.
  • Knowledge of journalism, public relations and general communications principles and practices
  • Experience in developing and managing web sites. Experience with communications-related software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams, and SharePoint.   Ability to master diverse applications such as ScreenScape (monitor software), GoToMeeting, and Survey Monkey
  • Sensitive to confidential information

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of internal communications related experience.  Experience may be substituted for degree
  • Must be a US Citizen
