Primary Purpose

The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing internal communications strategies and plans that engage, align, and inspire employees with Bernhard’s vision and business strategy, and drive employees’ understanding and engagement on company priorities and key initiatives. This position will work closely with company leadership on internal communication strategies and activities to support key corporate initiatives to advance Bernhard’s mission.


Essential Duties

The Internal Communications Manager will consider communications needed by all employees across the company, and design strategies for ensuring that initiatives and projects are effectively communicated and received: Specific responsibilities include:

·         Plan and execute a strategic internal communications plan that reinforces company values and promotes transparent communication

·         Manage programs and initiatives that focus on promoting employee appreciation, recognition and engagement

·         Advise and coach company leadership on communication strategies, including clear message alignment and channel selection

·         Work collaboratively with various teams including Marketing, Human Resources, Technical Staff, and Leadership to ensure consistency and brand standards

·         Write content and create visuals for employee communications including email announcements, internal newsletters, and presentations, to be delivered across a variety of channels

·         Develop metrics to effectively monitor the impact of internal communication programs, campaigns and events

·         Participate in crisis communication preparedness activities

·         Draft messages and talking points for senior executives

·         Plan and execute internal events

·         Coordinate and promote employee participation in community development and charitable giving events

·         Submit regular reports to company leadership


Travel Requirements

Occasional travel (10% or less) may be required to support initiatives.


Minimum Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing, or related field

·         5 years of relevant experience

·         Excellent written communication skills

·         Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Acrobat Pro)

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

·         Professional interpersonal skills

·         Creative thinker and problem solver

·         Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

·         Ability to work independently to meet deadlines

·         Ability to work in a collaborative, creative team environment


Preferred Qualifications (OPTIONAL)

·         Direct experience in the A/E/C industry

·         Crisis communication experience

·         Video production/editing experience
