The International Division leads efforts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to cultivate international scholarship and engagement, promote global awareness, and prepare students for a diverse and interconnected world. The incumbent will develop and foster University international relationships through the management of UW-Madison’s international agreements at the institutional, federal/national and international level.

DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred: Master’s degree or higher

MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:
Skills:
Required: Interpersonal / Intercultural skills. Analytical approach. Diplomacy. Attention to detail. Demonstrated organizational skills, with both paper and electronic records. Editing abilities, both for content as well as grammar and visual appearance. Relational database skills.

Preferred: Demonstrated ability to draft clear legal and/or policy documents. Outcome assessment skills. Foreign language skills a bonus.

Experience:
Required: Experience in a position involving global affairs or international engagement. Experience analyzing and compiling information from various sources to present complex information to facilitate decision-making. Experience with cultural protocols and intercultural differences. Experience in or familiarity with higher education institutions. Database experience.

Preferred: Experience with international contract negotiation / management and understanding of business principals. Project management experience to manage workflow processes and project delivery methods. Grant/contract/agreement writing experience. Demonstrated use of QS Unisolutions MoveOn database. Experience communicating with and / or negotiating with non-Americans/non-English speakers. Experience preparing for and working with international visitors or delegations and visits abroad. Experience working productively with faculty and staff on complex matters.

Knowledge Requirements:
Required: Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills to effectively work with acumen and diplomacy in handling sensitive or difficult situations, either independently or within a team environment. Knowledge of development and coordination of education abroad, exchanges, international training, and mobility trends. Familiarity with worldwide systems of higher education.

Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of cultural competencies, etiquette, protocol. Familiarity with UW-Madison policies and procedures.

This position requires some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

APPOINTMENT TYPE, DURATION:
Ongoing/Renewable

SALARY:
Minimum $46,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
