Legislative Analyst, Governmental Affairs & Public Policy

American Gas Association
Washington, D.C.

AGA’s Governmental Affairs & Public Policy Team works with industry stakeholders and AGA members to shape the clean energy future. The Legislative Analyst supports AGA’s government relations objectives by identifying, monitoring, and analyzing legislation.

A qualified candidate’s resume will include an undergraduate degree, two years of previous legislative, regulatory, lobbying or political experience in a support position, and an understanding of the legislative process, political fundraising and campaigns and/or public relations.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and three professional references with their application.

AGA employees currently have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely. The employee’s team determines one day each week, and the employee determines the others. The American Gas Association requires all staff to pass a background check, sign an arbitration agreement, and show proof of COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment.

The American Gas Association, founded in 1918, represents more than 200 local energy companies that deliver clean natural gas throughout the United States. There are more than 76 million residential, commercial and industrial natural gas customers in the U.S., of which 95 percent — more than 72 million customers — receive their gas from AGA members. Today, natural gas meets more than thirty percent of the United States’ energy needs.
