Location: Washington, DC
Travel: Approximately 10 days annually
The Legislative and Regulatory Specialist will assist the Senior Manager, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, the Manager, Legislative Affairs and the Senior Regulatory Strategist in analyzing federal health policy, tracking federal legislation and regulations that affect family medicine, and will conduct research and produce written documents to support AAFP Commissions, the Congress of Delegates, and AAFP senior staff in conducting their governmental advocacy work. The position will be responsible for contributing to and coordinating the weekly advocacy newsletter and will support the planning of advocacy-related meetings. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in an academic field directly related and essential to the job or thorough equivalent work experience plus a minimum of two years related work experience. Experience analyzing and tracking federal legislation and regulations with an interest in health care policy, or health care policy experience with an interest in federal government. Must possess a solid understanding of federal legislative and regulatory process. In addition, the ability to accomplish multiple priorities, and excellent analytic and writing skills are necessary.
