The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is seeking a Manager, Child Welfare Policy in our Washington, DC office to manage AAP’s growing portfolio of grant-funded work on child welfare policy issues. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional to play a key role in AAP’s efforts to significantly expand its child welfare policy work.

 

Working with the Director of Federal Advocacy and Child Welfare Policy, this individual will lobby, promote, and represent the AAP to Congress, the Administration, and the public on policies and positions on federal legislative, judicial, and regulatory issues related to the intersection of child welfare and health policy.

 

Seeking an individual with 3 -5 years of relevant experience on Capitol Hill, with the federal government, or an advocacy organization, with a strong working knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process; a BA in liberal arts, science, public health, government or other related discipline required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and federal legislative and regulatory work experience; and excellent writing, policy analysis, and project management skills required. Regular travel and weekend work required.
