The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), one of the nation’s largest, most respected and influential trade associations, is seeking a talented and highly motivated Associate Communications Manager responsible for supporting NADA’s media relations team serving public affairs initiatives.
Responsible for managing aspects of NADA’s media relations operations and assisting Director of Media Relations with all media relations inquiries and other public affairs initiatives.
Support implementation of media relations strategies and campaigns to advance NADA’s goals and interests of NADA members.
Conduct strategic research to support advocacy and executive support efforts.
Manage database management systems, monitor nationwide print and broadcast news coverage daily.
Maintain influencer and reporter lists; regularly monitor conversations and third-party platforms, updating databases, as appropriate.
Manage editorial calendar with input from various NADA departments and stakeholders.
Draft news releases, blog posts, talking points and background information for issues critical to NADA’s mission, and other editorial content.
Contribute to speechwriting and support in presentation creation, as needed.
Assist with coordination of media interviews and contribute to development of compelling story angles.
Assist with management of public relations campaigns and special events, including executive speaking engagements and industry conferences.
Support email content creation and distribution. Contribute to social media messaging, scheduling and content creation.
Develop relationships with key members of the media, including automotive press.
Maintain awareness of best practices and emerging tools, and regularly offer new ideas and suggestions to improve the effectiveness of NADA’s messaging.

Qualifications: Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in public relations, journalism, political science, marketing or communications preferred. Five years’ experience working with communication professionals in the traditional or digital media field.
Background in public and media relations and/or journalism is desirable. Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, researching and organizational skills required.
Must be detail-oriented and handle multiple tasks while meeting critical deadlines.
Ability to work in an open-space environment.
