About the Role:

 

The Tech Engagement team within Corporate Communications is looking for an energetic, creative and results-driven professional with experience in driving integrated, multi-dimensional, associate-facing engagement programs across organizations. This role will support the event strategy for Capital One Tech’s Business Resource Groups (Blacks in Tech, Hispanics in Tech, Women in Tech, Equality Allies). 

 

This position requires strong project management skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated experience and expertise in managing cross-functional teams and a solid understanding of the Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) landscape internally at Capital One and externally. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Exhibit deep understanding of the target audiences and needs across our associate base 

  • Work closely and engage with Tech DIB and BRG Accountable Executives to build trusted relationships 
  • Identify themes, topics and content that will resonate with target audiences and meet strategic business objectives
  • Leverage data and insights to inform narratives and influence programming
  • Understand, identify and effectively navigate potential risks and sensitivities and provide proactive solutions 

 

Drive the development and execution of event strategies to increase associate engagement and satisfaction

  • Contribute to the overall event strategy with individual BRGs as well as cross-BRG opportunities
  • Develop program and project plans for events, creating workstreams and deliverables for volunteers
  • Manage multiple teams of associate volunteers during all event stages to ensure flawless execution
  • Motivate volunteer teams and coordinate outreach to expand the pool of volunteers ready to contribute
  • Draft and lead the development of effective communications materials to include strategic plans, project status updates, and other communications documents for various audiences 
  • Identify and establish relationships with external partners who can contribute to and amplify our content

 

Embrace research, measurement and analytical thinking as a means to drive Impact 

  • Ensure all work is executed through a lens of strategic impact and measurement, leveraging the latest tools and technology to showcase how associate engagement is driving business outcomes and brand awareness 

 

Support Capital One enterprise communications

  • Connect the dots across Tech Engagement, Tech DIB, and the broader Corporate Communications team to drive efficiencies and create value for our business partners
  • Collaborate with enterprise communications team to ensure a consistent focus and narrative 
  • Lead PR efforts on BRG-supported external events, specifically The Grace Hopper Celebration 

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate: 

  • Proven ability to work effectively with multiple constituents, including peers, executive management, senior management, bringing simplicity to complex subject matters
  • Creative, integrative problem-solving and structured thinking
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional projects in a matrixed environment
  • Experience and passion for driving DIB efforts within an organization
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, analytical talent and attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation and persuasion skills

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience
  • At least 5  years of experience planning/managing events with a focus on content development, logistics, and impact assessment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Deep understanding and expertise in DIB initiatives that achieve measurable results based on business objectives
  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience 
  • Experience working, partnering with and influencing multiple constituents and stakeholders (internal and external), including senior executives
