Description

Develop and maintain professional communications for the Department of Testing Services (DTS) and the governing bodies DTS serves. Develop communication strategies and execute various communication initiatives to enhance communication between DTS and its broad communities of interest. This includes work involving DTS documents, communication and marketing plans for new examination programs, website pages, social media, and targeted multimedia projects. Manage the development of communication and marketing materials produced by DTS (candidate examination guides, manuals, presentations, etc.). Develop and manage support materials for departmental governance meetings (agendas, meeting minutes, reports, letters, etc.) Establish departmental style guides to maintain a consistent style and formatting of communications across the department. Work collaboratively with other DTS managers to ensure consistent messaging and communication style in DTS presentations, on electronic platforms including web pages, and through internal and external communications to various stakeholders and audiences. Develop and assist in building standard work procedures to ensure consistency in DTS messaging to its various audiences.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in English, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in writing for a professional audience, editing and managing communication and marketing plans, and establishing communication protocols; emphasis on working with and developing content for professional and diverse audiences.
  • Able to work under varied deadlines and develop accurate professional communications and business process strategies that produce a clear and positive message for the department.
  • Must be able to work with professional and diverse groups; the ability to collaborate and lead workgroups; and to develop accurate, professional communications that create a positive image of DTS.
  • Must be attentive to detail, able to work independently, prioritize workload, and manage several projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
  • Professional speaking and presentation style.
  • Must have knowledge of emerging digital technologies and social media outlets; best practices in communication and process management; marketing plan process; and understanding communication roles and business protocols.
  • Proficient in document publishing software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (WORD, EXCEL & PowerPoint)
  • Some travel

Highly Desirable Skills:

  • MS/MA in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
  • Knowledge of higher education, high-stakes testing industry and the profession of dentistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, develop, implement and manage communication and marketing plans, and ability to develop business protocols to streamline work processes.
  • Proven track record of implementing successful communication strategies to enhance communication between organizations and stakeholders.
  • Proficient with office technology tools (webinar and teleconference programs).
  • Training will be provided for departmental software (Aptify) and SharePoint Knowledge Management.
