Manager, Federal Government Affairs – Corporate Affairs
What you’ll do
Manages legislative initiatives for Federal Government Affairs by developing objectives, methods, and timeline for initiatives; interacting with internal and external stakeholders (for example, Public Affairs, Legal, U.S. Congress, government offices) to define support needs; measuring support and momentum for initiatives; providing updates to management on progress and status of initiatives; and redirecting efforts and resources to complete the initiative. Develops tactics and strategy for specific legislative initiatives by directing legislative research; identifying legislative issues and their impact on Walmart goals and objectives; identifying Home Office client and operational needs; serving as a liaison between the Home Office and external stakeholders (for example, government offices, coalitions) to ensure alignment of Walmart needs with legislative initiatives; building strategic guidance for Federal Government Affairs from key legislative issue research and summary reports; and adapting strategies to changing political, legislative, or regulatory environments. Supports implementation of Walmart Government Affairs and other strategies, priorities, and initiatives by building, maintaining, and leveraging relationships with external groups (for example, Executive Branch personnel, Congressional staff, trade associations, consultants); ensuring key stakeholders understand Walmart policies, strategies, and goals; preparing for and supporting executive visits; providing input to the legislative process; and obtaining support for proposed legislation. Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training; mentoring; assigning duties; providing recognition; and ensuring diversity awareness. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.
