The Governance Relations Team engages with McKesson’s shareholders on governance matters. McKesson is committed to seeking feedback and soliciting input from shareholders to ensure we meet ongoing shareholder expectations regarding our compensation and governance practices. In 2017 we engaged with institutional investors and pension funds representing more than 60% of our common stock. The Manager, Governance Relations and General Corporate plays a critical role in McKesson’s shareholder engagement program. This is a rare opportunity to interact with our shareholders and to work with colleagues across the enterprise, including in McKesson’s Law, Investor Relations, Public Affairs, Corporate Secretary, Compliance, Compensation and Benefits, Corporate Citizenship, Real Estate, Communications groups.
While Governance Relations will be the primary focus for this role, there may be opportunity for this team member to become involved in M&A transactions and/or other corporate matters.
Key Responsibilities include:
Assist with the development, implementation, management, and execution of shareholder outreach strategy
Create briefing documents to prepare Governance Relations team, executives and/or Board members for shareholder meetings by researching and reviewing information (e.g., voting guidelines, voting histories, articles, white papers and proxy statements) and distilling key points
Help cultivate and maintain relationships with shareholders
Research and track governance trends, shareholder priorities and shareholder positions on governance issues to stay abreast of matters that may impact McKesson and to help develop best practices for addressing emerging governance issues
Draft communications bound for, and presentations to, McKesson’s C-suite and Board of Directors
Track details of all shareholder communications (inbound and outbound), including conferences, meetings, and calls
Coordinate meetings and calls with shareholders
Drive and manage logistics for shareholder “road shows”, with assistance from team administrative assistant
Maintain document management system and CRM database
Manage budgets and vendors
Possible travel, up to 25%
2+ years experience in project management.
- Experience in governance, communications, law or project management desirable
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Power Point
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with shareholders and senior executives
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in an efficient and timely manner
- Proactive, solution-oriented approach
- Strong collaboration skills
- Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking
